Diploma in Applied Spirituality

This course runs for two years and is aimed at Christian students who already have a basic level of religious education and are interested in personal spiritual growth. It is modelled on a course from the Christian Leadership University (CLU), a private religious education University in the United States. Completion of the course is a prelude to the award of a Degree for those who want to further their religious education.

This course requires a minimum of 2 and 1/2 hours study every week. Courses are delivered online (using Zoom) and normally take place on the second and fourth Saturday of each month between 1-5pm and is split over three terms (6 Saturdays each).

Syllabus for Year 1 students:

1st Year students will study the following three modules:

  • Living In The Spirit

  • Knowing God Through The Word

  • Empowered By The Spirit

Syllabus: The 1st academic year runs from February to November, covering the topics below in each module*. Details for year 2 are subject to timetabling constraints.

Living In The Spirit (1): 8th February to 12th April

Knowing God Through The Word (1): 10th May to 26th July

  • Bible Meditation

  • Pentateuch

  • History 1 - United Kingdom

  • History 2 - Divided Kingdom

Living In The Spirit (2): 27th September to 22nd November

Assessment: Assessment is via application exercises and electronic test papers after each class, where students will demonstrate seeing, writing, practising and sharing, reflecting the revelation-based learning method. An overall pass mark of 70% is required to graduate, as well as an attendance record of at least 80%.

Entry Requirements: The course is open to anyone who is 16 years and above regardless of your church or denomination. However, you must have completed and graduated from the Certificate in Christian Ministry or an equivalent course. In addition, the online tests require the ability to use a computer to log on therefore you must be computer literate etc.

Cost: The fee for the course is £100 per academic year, which covers the provision of all teaching materials. This can be paid upfront before the start of the course, or in termly instalments (£40, £30, £30) not later than one week before the start of each term.

CLU Registration: There is also a one-off payment of $99 (£Sterling equivalent dependent on exchange rates) to register with the CLU for lifetime access to the electronic course materials. This must be paid at the start of the Diploma course.
